Amateur Radio .. Get out and talk with the world

I received my advanced license in 2011 and was primarily on VHF for a couple years.

It did not take long before I had a Kenwood TS820 in the shack and a mini G5RV strung across the back yard.

The TS820 is a good unit however I did find it did not produce a clear & clean sound.

The TS440 was added and soon proved that in fact the TS820 did have a problem with distorion.

After pulling it apart, isolating and fixing it was as clean as the TS440.

The setup consists of an ICOM IC208 dual band driving a Diamond X50A for VHF/UHF and the TS440S driving a Hustler 5-BTV vertical.

We meet in the morning in some obscure location and setup a HF station out of the back of our car.

Setup an antenna and see who we can contact.

Let me introduce you to Ron - VA3RON and Peter - VE3EYI
